Evan has been teaching tennis for 7 years and has worked at various tennis camps in the GTA. He has experience-teaching students ranging from newcomers to tournament players in both group and private settings.

Evan is a Tennis Canada Instructor Level 1 and prior to teaching tennis, he played competitively at a provincial level in OTA tournaments for 6 years. He is currently at the University of Guelph where he is completing his undergraduate degree in Psychology and will be going into his final year in September. Although the University of Guelph does not have a varsity tennis team, Evan continues to play tennis multiple times a week and has played in organized interschool friendly matches. He also coaches weekly at Cutten Fields in Guelph.

Evan is extremely passionate about the game of Tennis and hopes to instill that same desire to play tennis on a regular basis in all who work with him. He believes in always striving to improve your game and enjoying the process of doing it. His main goal is for his students to feel successful in their progression and proud of their accomplishments so that they will continue to have as much fun as possible playing tennis.

As this will be Evan’s first year at Gwendolen Park Tennis Club, he looks forward to meeting all the members and working with them on the tennis court as well as getting to know them throughout the summer.

This will be Evan’s second summer at Gwendolen tennis club.

Tennis Pro Assistant - Arseniy SklyarovTennis Pro Assistant

Arseniy Sklyarov grew up as a junior playing tennis in the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA). He reached a high of 13th in the country and 6th in Ontario. Arseniy has been coaching tennis since the age of 14, starting with summer camps, and moving onto older and more advanced categories of players.

Post junior career, Arseniy now plays college tennis at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania and has helped his team win their conference for the first time in Mercyhurst history. On top of that, the team made the NCAA Nationals tournament in 2018 . Arseniy is studying Finance and Business Intelligence for his Undergraduate degree and is looking to graduate in May 2020.

Arseniy sees tennis as an ageless sport that can be played late into anyone’s career. He strives to help any students that see the value of putting effort into perfecting their strokes. As a player himself, he understands the effect of pressure moments and helps to clarify exactly how to stay level headed in a heated situation.

Arseniy is looking forward to meeting as many members as possible and is always happy to chat!

This will be Arsenyi’s 1st summer as Assistant Professional of Gwendolen Park Tennis Club.
